Are you an undergrad from underrepresented groups and are interested in computing?

Are you curious about research and grad school in computing and intersecting fields?

Are you interested in solving real-world problems in a team of students from diverse backgrounds and get paid for it?

The Department of Computer Science is launching the “Inclusive Computing Program”–a new research-focused workshop and mentorship program sponsored by the Google ExploreCSR program. The program aims to engage UR undergraduate students from underrepresented groups with diverse computing research, career pathways, and practical skill development.

This work was partially funded by an unrestricted gift from Google.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for 30 undergraduate students from historically underrepresented groups in computing, especially female, underrepresented minority, LGBTQ+, first-generation college students, as well as students with accessibility needs

What will the program offer?

Workshop

A 2-hour workshop to introduce research opportunities in computing and connect the students with previous/existing researchers from underrepresented communities

Research opportunity

45-hours paid hands-on research experience with an academic mentor during the 2020-2021 academic year

Networking

Lunch with a mentor and an invitation to attend undergraduate research conferences
